Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning partnered with R & H Construction to tackle the unique ventilation challenges of The Union at St. Johns. Located at the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, St. Johns is one of Portland’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The Union at St. Johns is a mixed-use space featuring 163 residential units across four floors, with retail space on the ground floor and an underground parking garage. Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning provided HVAC services for the entire complex.
One challenge our team faced was ensuring all sections of the building had the proper natural ventilation. In the residential units, our technicians installed Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) units to boost airflow throughout each apartment. These units provide adequate exhaust flow for kitchen ranges, dryers, bathroom fans, and other HVAC units throughout the building’s residential spaces.
For the building’s ground-floor retail spaces, our team successfully installed a full grease duct system on the roof and ran it through four floors of space. Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning is excited to see the Union at St. Johns become a great addition to the Portland community.
