Jacobs working on New Avenue for Youth facility remodel

The second floor of the New Avenues for Youth building in downtown Portland is being remodeled to become the home of the Rotary Center for Career Training. The 8,500-square-foot space at 314 S.W. 9th Ave. will have training rooms, computer labs, offices and a kitchen. Due to be completed in mid-spring, the work is being done by general contractor R&H Construction Co. from a design by Holst Architecture.

BINGEN, Wash. -- Few people could be more surprised at the rapid growth of Klickitat County's robotic airplane maker, Insitu, than its chief executive officer, Steve Sliwa.

The company has grown from four employees when it was founded in 1994, to six when Sliwa joined in 2001, to about 30 in 2004 to 360 employees in July 2008 when Boeing announced it was going to acquire Insitu as a wholly owned subsidiary.
