Jacobs installs ductless heat pump for happy PGE sweepstakes winner

Winner loves new ductless heat pump

"I feel like I've died and gone to heaven," laughs Catherine Bryant, talking about the comfort and efficiency of the new mini-split heat pump she won in the fall PGE sweepstakes.

Previously, Catherine and her husband, Mike, tried to heat their 1918 farmhouse in rural Clackamas County with electric wall heaters and a wood stove.

"I had huge electric bills, and I was cold," she says.

The ductless solution

The Bryants couldn't install a new furnace without a big wiring upgrade and ductwork. The ductless mini-split heat pump she won solved their heating problem nicely - no ductwork needed and a considerably smaller electric draw. Small, concealed lines connect an outside condenser to small indoor fan units located in different rooms. The system provides both heating and air conditioning for year-round comfort.

More comfort, lower costs

'It's wonderful! It heats great and each unit has its own remote," Catherine says. She was also thrilled to see how the heat pump reduced her electric bill by half.

Even though Catherine has enjoyed the new warmth, she's looking forward to summer. I'm excited to use the air conditioning!'
