Businesses who invest in energy efficiency improvements for their commercial buildings can now get more money back from the Energy Trust of Oregon when they register their projects.
On April 1, Energy Trust’s energy-efficiency incentives for custom non-lighting projects, such as heating and cooling systems, increased from 20 cents to 25 cents per annual kilowatt hour saved, up to 50 percent of the cost of the project.
In addition, incentives for installing direct digital controls for heating, cooling and ventilation system retrofits were increased to 30 cents per annual kilowatt hour saved and $1 per therm of natural gas, up to 50 percent of the eligible project cost.
These increased incentives will be available for custom projects in existing commercial buildings that are approved by Oct. 31 and completed by the end of the year. Energy Trust is a nonprofit that uses cash incentives to get utility customers to make an effort to reduce their utility costs.
