Last winter's moderate to strong El Nino has ended, with sea-surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean rapidly cooling to below normal. La Nina (cooler than normal tropical Pacific Ocean sea-surface temperatures) has developed, with most computer models forecasting the conditions to strengthen this autumn and last at least through this coming winter.
Forecast Sept-Nov 2010 (Based on 1958, 1964, 1966, 1973, 2007).
